The story of S0NJ4 starts out in a different city than that of Building a House of Roses, the one owned and operated my Fenrir -- the company that supplies others like Aster with advanced and autonomous military weapons. It's protagonist "Sonja" is a product of that company, a S0NJ4 unit. This androids are powered by an advanced AI system with control substructures that are mainly sold for personal security and assistance.
Sonja one day, after an incident, started displaying abnormal behavior -- regularly loosing "consciousness" with gaps of sometimes multiple days in her system logs she cannot explain. Inexplicably in those gaps she evidently still performs her functions, cleans the house of her owner, serves him, and overall nobody except herself knows about this. She can't seek out help, her owner while rich is also stingy and wouldn't get her repairs or diagnostics she needs, so she is on her own... or so she thought.
S0NJ4 is a side story to Building a House of Roses that allows me a lot of experimentation, both with the story itself and the format of storytelling -- essentially every chapter is written in a different style and sometimes uses completely different formatting (for example chapter 4, which is one long chat log). Since it was part of my weekly stories it also doesn't put as much of a burden on edits and re-dos on me, with it being a weekly-ish release too. So it is really a fun extra story I am working on whenever I have an idea for it while I finish up the "main story" of that universe -- but it is one that has grown on me a lot, and for which I have planned many fun twists and turns. It is not a mandatory read, but one I highly recommend. ^^
